The Amiga executable of Carl Sessenrath`s REBOL
is now available for free download or purchase
at the main REBOL website. It follows hot on the
heels of the release of versions for the Macintosh,
Windows PC`s and the various shades of Linux.

The REBOL language provides a revolutionary simple
way to model the exchange and flow of information.

The popular Shareware text editor GoldEd has

WHITHER WORKBENCH 3.5 ?

The big news is that Workbench 3.5 has been given
the go-ahead from the big bosses at Gateway, but is
it needed or wanted. Ben Vost investigates.

Workbench has been patched and hacked more than any
other bit of software available for the Amiga.

Workbench 3.5 will need to provide a lot more than these
add-ons in a more integrated way if it is to sell.

Although Amiga Inc have denied any link with the PPC
now ... its hard to imagine they can ignore it.

POLOMA:

Now you can really veg out in front of your
computer. As if typing in HTML wasn`t enough.
Ben Vost now watches TV too.

while the TV carries on - you can`t do that if
you have to switch channels.

hardware and software.

WORKBENCH:

AF`s resident hardware healer and software saviour
John Kennedy, solves your problems yet again

Q: I recently purchased a Quantum 2.1 Gb IDE Ultra
DMA hard drive from Power Computing that is difficult
to start up...
A: Some hard drives are more equal than others, and
a common problem is the refusal to boot from cold.
On IBM hard drives, breaking the Pin 1 connection
on the IDE cable sometimes solves the problem.

Hard Luck - Question about hard drives.

....... You cannot link a 2.5" drive and a 3.5" drive
together in the usual masterslave relationship. Most
2.5" drives are designed to be the only drive in a
notebook computer, and therefore don`t have the necessary
jumpers.

AMIGA.NET:

Dave Cusick sings the praises of MP3.

A typical four minute pop song can be encoded into
an MP3 file that is barely 4Mb in size and decoded
on the fly.

MP3 CAR:

The new MP3car site looks though it could grow
into a shrine for mobile MP3 fans.

CREATIVE:

USING HTML - Tutorial:

Neil Bothwick, head of Amiga ISP Wirenet,
starts a new tutorial for people interested in HTML.

SOUND ADVICE:

C FOR YOURSELF:

The Amiga has always been the favourite platform for
3D graphics and now you know enough C to create your
own, as John Kennedy demonstrates.

UNDER THE BONNET:

Simon Goodwin uncovers the might of memory management.

MMU`s intercept every memory access made by the processor,
translating the logical address specified by the program.

2000AF: - Anyway the best of luck to everyone at
AF for the future, and who knows? In two year`s
time, Af might be thicker, cheaper and have some
competitors again.

As we have said since the closure of CU, there
are no plans to close Amiga Format any time soon.
It remains a profitable title and we sincerely hope
that it will remain so, certainly long enough to
see the arrival of the new Amiga.

SERIOUS DISK:

Fiasco 2.2 - This fantastic database is back and it`s
better than ever. Dave Taylor investigates the
