Hi When I have been thumbing through the various copies of disks I get with sets of Amigas there are often these copy disk applications which I have often thought were there so the owner ... er well... could copy disks. Not sure how far they went with say copyright issues, but given that the Amiga did have a copy disk facility I can only think you would use this software to avoid copy protection issues. Anyway I have just obtained two versions of copy disk software, the official disks and manuals and these are: Hercules Copy from Club 68000: which boasts: Super fast disk copier Copies commercial software Supports four disk drives Supports memory expansion Special adjustable parameters to deal with advanced copy protection schemes Mouse and keyboard driven Easy to use Manual in English German and French Marauder II: Important: This product is provided for the purpose of enabling you to make archival backup copies only. Under the Federal Copyright Act you, as owner of a copy of a computer program are entitled to make a new copy for archival purposes only.... So why would Marauder II permit the capability to make four simultaneous copies from a single original. Also the ability to make multiple sets of duplicates without having to re-read the original. The idea being that Marauder forms the core of a disk reproducing system. No doubt you could use this to reproduce your own disks legally for sale. Fully automatic, ultra-high speed backup of any Amiga disk Completely de protects many of your Amiga software favourites. Requires absolutely no hardware adjustments. Make multiple simultaneous copies from a single original. All from Discovery Software. True purpose comes to mind. scuzz
Hi Just unpacked the busted A500 which had arrived quite miraculously without damage, given it only had parcel paper around it. Anyway the unit is very clean, and a quick check of the trap door revealed a memory upgrade. Next up I plugged it in.... I really am convinced that modern computing has made folk ignorant of what it was to have these retro computers... Cus... there is nothing wrong with the machine. I guess seeing the boot screen makes them think its busted. A quick game of Turrican and a whizz round 1.3 and she clicks like a good'n. Excellent. So nothing to do there then. Green LED so not an early one. All the same a useful addition and one that I may just add a few bits to. Happy days. scuzz
Hi The second part of the week saw a few interesting bits and pieces find there way here... 17 BIT Software and twenty more disks. I have a strange feeling that I am going to get this sellers whole collection of PD disks. He puts a dozen or so on a week. Some very useful utilities disks among the disks. Ultimate Golf ! if there is such a thing. Small boxed Amiga game for the 500 Plus range of Amigas... Includes practice, matchplay and strokeplay.. All on one disk by Gremlin Graphics Software. Big heavy games box next and even heavier a subject. War in the Golf...by Empire. You get the full works with this game including maps, posters etc etc. Not a great fan of war games, but this was a classic of the day. Popular Computing Weekly... Another four editions of this rather faded paper style magazine. Vol 2 numbers 9,10,11 and 12 from early 1983. One item for March 83 announces Peanut Micro to challenge Apple. The Peanut cost £300 offering the same facilities as the Apple but for a fraction of the cost.... Also the Sinclair Microdrive is nearing completion and 16K ORIC doubts over future. There is also an interesting article on the Texet TX8000. Some rare Einstein stuff next and a very rare pack of SIX games including Breakout, Deflect, Bootman, N'Vaders Phrogger and Traxman. I also got the System Disk and two manuals, the second of which is why I went after this auction. The Dr Logo Introduction manual... Classic. My Haynes Build Your Own Computer book finally arrived which I have simply put on the bookshelf. Don`t think I will have need of it for some considerable time. The A500 was the star for this week.. All working fine. One item still finding its way through the Post Office deadlands is a nice boxed CD32. I wanted this cus its a Commodore official box and not a presentation box. Hopefully its arrives soon. All systems go here again, and postie looks to be busy for the forseeable future. Bit early to be talking of an update yet. I need to hit the magical 8 computers in the bag. Just four at the moment... More later. scuzz
Hi I do giggle whenever I get anything relating to Vulcan Software Ltd... Yesterday I got a sealed Expansion Disk for the Timekeepers game. ' The simplistically complex puzzle game ' This expansion disk complements the original TIMEKEEPERS MiniSeries Game. Simply use the disk instead of the original and you suddenly have another 60 excruciatingly complex levels. All by Vulcan Software. We have discussed Vulcan in the past, and I can`t help but feel in the latter years they were the only company that was seriously developing original games for the Amiga. They should really have become as big as the SIM games in the end but alas they came along too late to save the Amiga game base. If you have an Amiga and enjoy a good giggle while puzzle solving then why not get yourself a good game from Vulcan. They are just magic. Or if you are lumbered with a PC then go to the Vulcan Portal... still a great hoot.http://www.vulcan.co.uk/portal/index.htm
You need to find Paul Carrington... He's on deck 23 Biz and Dev for Vulcan Software. Programming for Vulcan Portal, Valhalla Classics, Timekeepers, Portal Frag, 3dVoiceNews Creator, Valhalla3D, Hybrid and Mother3D. scuzz
