Some may recall that around two years ago I decided to have a bit of a break. I collated what I had acquired later in 2008 and did the last real update September of that year... Anyway, I was tempted out from under my rock by a very very kind gentleman who asked me to have his Amiga collection. I was so proud and privileged to be given this opportunity and treked north to fill my vehicle with Amiga goodies once more. Suffice to say that the lions share of this list has been contributed by a very spacial Amigan.... A big thanks to Chris T. And so... deep breath time. Just a selection from the vast collection of Amigas given to me for safe keeping. I will treasure them all
Because of a very large table full of Amigas in front of this cupboard I had not ventured into it for five years. And so on opening the cupboard I found all of this Which was nice ....
Included in the hive of boxes is my original Amiga 1200 Desktop Dynamite pack with the label reminding me of the original 80MB drive fitted. The Amiga Magic pack was bought new from Analogic just in case my original Amiga breaks. It has a Blizzard 1230IV SCSI Kit.
There was good reason for my efforts to open the lost store cupboard. Inside there were two Amiga 500 Plus' and I guessed the batteries were leaking... So having recovered them and opened up this is what I found... Suffice to say they were saved and live on. Phew ! Sadly the one Amiga had been the treasured possession of a Lady vicar from Scotland and was in perfect condition in it's original box with all the seals in place. It broke my heart to be the one that had to break those seals and I did struggle with this. I may be a collector, but given that I never ever did this for profit I felt that saving the computer was more important than any value a mint machine may have.... And so the seals were broken, and the machine was saved.
Images of both Amiga 500s being repaired. The damage was only superficial and cleaned up easy. You can see from the active power light and image on the monitor that they powered up fine. Note the image of the inside of the Cartoon Classics with the note about the A500 Plus having the A501 already installed. This was done by Commodore because those that ordered their A500 at the release of the 500 Plus would have opened their Cartoon Classics box to find inside a 500 Plus instead.... That must have been a wonderful surprise. That bunch of batteries lying on the worktop are just four removed in the last week from computers. These barrel batteries are real killers and sadly sometimes you are not successful.
Poor Miggy :-(
Those visiting the site hit a new record in March with over 17000 visitors to the web pages of Commodore Amiga Retro. From the mail I get their are still loads of folk interested in the Amiga platform. Looks like I shall be busy for some considerable time to come.
Happy Days :-) scuzz
