Following the joy of discovering the A500 Plus was actually working I decided to give the machine some space in the Workshop so that I can check out further whether there are any serious issues. First problem I encountered is an issue with a RAM expansion card. I added an AMRAM NC Issue 2 card made by Zydec. The machine does not recognise the additional RAM sadly. More work needed here. I fitted an original Amiga mouse [ see image below ] and that worked without fault. I also sat the machine in a specially designed desk tidy tray which is useful for sitting the monitor. I am testing the machine with a Microvitec, though I will probably switch for another as I use the Microvitec with an Amiga 1200. Although the machine is Kickstart Version 37.175 2.04 v37.67 I am running Workbench 1.3 at the moment as its simpler off a single DD. I need to identify a small board fitted on the machine which I believe to be a ROM switcher which may have been simply added to allow the machine to access earlier games. All in all a good second day with the machine and a whole heap of fun.
RAM Expansions / Zydec: Amram 500 (Amram 500+) 512k memory expansion for the A500 and A500+. The A500 version includes a battery backedup clock because the A500+ already has one on the motherboard. You can of course use either version on either the A500 or A500+. They include a memory switch for disabling the additional RAM, primarily for compatibility reasons with old software.
