ScuzzBlog: Diaries April 2018 Entry 20th April 2018: Post: 1 If all else fails !!! As custodian of the Commodore Amiga Retro museum I am charged with making sure all the kit keeps working. This involves regular checks however brief on the various kit. What I tend to do is pick a section of computers, normally off the same power lead and give them a run out. Today before breakfast I ventured into the lower store area and flicked on the power and removed a few keyboard and dust-covers and began the ritual of switching computers on and leaving them that way while I have my Shreadies. Today should have been a pretty clean run.... but not so. Remember that this is what ' I do ' and not in any way what I suggest others should do. I'm a nutter. Never forget that Quite congested this area and one where even the cat would bang his head as I swung him round Amstrad 6128 .. Check Amstrad PC9512 .. Check Tatung OK .. Directory check Acorn 7000 .. Working Amstrad 9512+ with 3.5" .. Check A500 with Viper internal hard drive .. Workin !!! Amstrad 1512HD20 .. What a GEM Checkmate Boots Checkmate checking files Checkmate .. Finds Dragon Tiles Important I check the Dragon is OK And to the A2000...... !!! WHOT THE F*@# Breakfast is placed on hold whilst I check why the hard drive isn't working Looks fine inside .. Nothing loose Checks cards... It's technical Hmmm .. Thinks what to do Scratches head I know... I'll hit it That's the Basil Faulty technique Well that worked You do have to stand the 2000 on its end Hard drive functioning Amiga repairs are generally pretty technical.... Its all in the wrist action Files seem to be OK. No nasty bruises Some nice DOpus icons. This machine is on a Parnet with the Checkmate so guess what ... Dragon Tiles And DOpus Whoo Hooo !!! Pixel Pro Here's one I did earlier Coooooool !! And so we have a yellow light again I'll leave her standing while I have breakfast Back in place and hooked up via Parnet to the Checkmate. Boots host/client and no errors... I had to do it twice as the pictures were a bit blurred. No tripod Parnet and network link to Checkmate working Which is where I came in Looks good She's fine. Just wanted to go for a walk My brother was dead keen on his old BSA motorbike and when all else failed he use to reach out for his BSA screwdriver A bloody great hammer...
