Commodore CBM 8050 - Back to the heavyweights
Early dual floppy drive for the PET and CBM machines released in
1980 from the details on the motherboard. The unit is quite
massive and also very heavy. It has a bonnet style lid that lets
you open the whole top of the unit on a piano hinge. The drives
then sit in the main base of the unit and motherboard attached
to the underside of the lid.
The unit uses single sided floppy drives and uses a printer
port on the back of the unit that can be fitted with a piggy back
connector to allow printer use.
This particular unit was given to the winners of the John Hunt
Cup in 1983 who I believe were Ettingshall Holy Trinity ...
[ Wiki ] The JW Hunt Cup was formed in 1926 to raise funds for
the benefit of the local blind. It is named in memory of John
William Hunt, a local businessman, keen supporter of charities
and founder of the Chillington Tool Company.
You really don't want to be dropping this on your foot. I show
a comparison with a 3.5" floppy to show the size of the unit.
When switched on it flashes all the usual error modes and I
am guessing its bad chips, maybe, dunno.
