Entry 12th April 2020: Post 04: Amiga Mouse - I dropped my favourite mouse.
Amiga Mouse - I dropped my favourite mouse.
OK what am I like. I dropped my favourite mouse dragging it off
the bench. Sadly it lost all left and right hand movement. Up and
down was fine but left and right not working. So I opened her up.
What ever you do don't tell the 'Tubers' there are capacitors in
here or that'll be their next stock answer to any mouse problem.
Anyhoo the mouse ball being heavy had pushed the horizontal rod
for the left and right movement out of its socket and I simply
had to reseat the 'thang'. Incredible amount of electronics inside
the Commodore 'TANK' mouse.
Anyway she's working fine again now. Note the rubber feet on the
base perishing. The clear outer cover is OK but the inner core
is melting and perishing. Happens a lot.
One minor factoid... The C64 1351 mouse looks exactly the same as
an Amiga mouse and yet it is not. The GEOS mouse, which is what I
call it, lets you use the mouse on a C64. An Amiga mouse does not
work. They are quite different mice.
Man was that a long day. More fun tomorrow.
