Entry 23rd April 2020: Post 02: Amiga hard drive testing.
Amiga hard drive testing.
Looks like it will take a while to obtain my A600 2.5" from China
as my source appears to be giving me a June delivery date. I really
can't think what the problem is. But hey !
So I dragged a drawer full of old busted 2.5" drives recovered
from various machines and tried them out one by one. To do this I
used an old A1200 motherboard and connected the drives so I could
hear the sound. That would be all I would need to determine if
the drive was working.
No luck sadly as they all failed. I wasn't surprised. I have had
some marginal luck tapping and turning them upside down. I didn't
freeze them this time.
Anyhoo, looks like I have to wait a while for my drive from China.
I guess I will wait until the current issues/problems, what ever,
have receded somewhat.
I have included a couple of short video clips of a busted hard drive
plus the noise the Amiga 600 is making that obviously is worrying.
