ScuzzBlog: Diaries April 2020
Entry 26th April 2020: Post 01: Draco - VLab and Movieshop.
Draco - VLab and Movieshop.
Following my blog a while back on the Draco system I was given
some great links to magazine articles on the Draco, VLab Motion
system and Movieshop. I had promised to feature the magazines
but with one thing and another I hadn't gotten round to it. Well
after some delay here are the respective magazine articles.
I do wish I could have gotten one of these computers in the day
they look like just the kind of kit I could have used for my
video work.
Whilst at it I couldn't help pulling down from the shelves copies
of mags with the A\Box by Phase 5 and The Walker at CeBIT by Amiga
Technologies. Both these computers look stunning and would look
wonderful in the collection. I have no idea what happened to the
A\Box but I have a feeling there is only one Walker in existence.
Such a shame really that the Amiga never became a next gen computer
in the true sense of the word. In 1996 when I moved over to MS
I had very simple constraints set for a new computer. I had to
be able to buy it from a known local retailer, it had to be
covered by a one year warranty, it must have CD, graphics card
and be internet ready. I had hoped Escom could help but when I
went into their store they tried to sell my a standard PC.
Spending over £2000 in those days was a massive risk and to me
the Amiga just didn't have a home that was going anywhere. This
would involve a lot of my own effort to get a machine capable
of meeting my criteria. It was just so easy to walk into a store
and buy a Windows based PC. I didn't want to but it is what I did.
And today I sit writing this on a Windows 7 machine.
Nuff said.
