The very first scuzzblog - Featuring music keyboards and SEX .. er sorry SFX.
I actually discovered my very first scuzzblog for the site
dated 1st December 2006. As ever I had been out on a trek
to recover some retro kit. This time it was a sexy full size
musical keyboard for the C64 and made by Commodore. Quite
rare I have to say.
The whole transaction must have looked a bit shady as I
transferred the keyboard from one car boot to another and
parted with cash in the full gaze of folk having their
breakfast at a road side chef.
Happy Days.
With the keyboard was an SFX unit which was handy for playing
the keys. I was trying to build a collection of SFX kit
and the keyboard was an added bonus, albeit a bit big.
SFX always makes me think of sexy retro kit and the two items
below are in my view the two sexiest bits of retro that I have.
So set your faces to stun ...
And finally today some AI that I generated based on retro
prompts that I created. Getting the words to appear correct
in AI can be a bit tricky. Neither reflected the original
machines but you wouldn't expect that from AI. The last image
represents the inner workings of my mind. It is part of a set
I created which started as an adventure into Flatland.
Here is an extract from blog number 01. The full thing is
below though links and stuff no longer work I don't think.
Hi
Time to open the old C-A-R Christmas Advent calendar with
my very special selection of goodies from the collection.
The idea being that I will share with you my 25 most
favourite items from the collection and explain why....
OK December 1st 2006 and its [ roll of drums ]
The Commodore SFX ~ Sound Expander
Traveled to Newbury today to collect a keyboard. Waited at
the Road Chef like some kind of drug junkie. The walls of
the restaurant were fully glazed and beyond were faces
staring out at the car park. Arrives my retro dealer who
popped the boot and transferred the goods for cash in hand.
Must have looked strange the transfer of C64 and full size
keyboard. Anyway we parted.
The keyboard was marked with numbers which came off
with a bit of white spirit. What was just wonderful however
was the gadget in the box to which I had no knowledge. This
turned out to be the SFX Sound Expander. I got quite excited
when I saw just how expensive these sold for in their day,
and just how rare they were.
I connected the keyboard, expander and C64 together plus
tape machine and like magic the software downloaded and
there before me was a fully functioning musical keyboard
playing through the TV. I was amazed. Later I managed to
get another of these boxed, plus the Sound Sampler...
Always thought the lady on the box looked like Victoria Wood.
[ sugar me I`m back onto Acorn Antiques ... :-( ]
And the cost ......18 quid.
Music Expansion System for the SFX
Interesting .... This item is the
only bit of kit I have that I have
never been able to photograph full size
The blog layout appears strange but in those days all
my pages were set up to be read on an Amiga and it looked
OK on the Miggy. Hence the narrow paragraphs, which was
full page width on my A1200.
Anyhoo.. You guessed it I'm still cleaning. Nearly done.
I have just the guest apartments, snooker room, theater
and the Paris Hilton Suite to clean. Such a dirty girl.
