ScuzzBlog: Diaries May 2026

Entry 4th May 2026: Post 1: Been on my mind for a while.

Been on my mind for a while.

I have decided to focus all my efforts on my Ai Art for the time
being. Try as I might I have not been able to find a successful
replacement for my Win7 machine which holds all my Amiga software,
website, Adobe Photoshop and other art and video software. I use
all these things together and without any one of them I struggle
to create web pages. The biggy is Photoshop which to use on the
Win11 machine requires now a monthly sub, which I just refuse to
pay.

The drive on the Win7 machine has been in the red for a long time
and takes anything up to ten minutes to boot up. I have so little
space left I struggle to do anything. The machine already has
three support drives but the power usage is a risk now. The poor
thing is on its last legs.

I have spent hours moving stuff about to keep me active this last
year but today I finally conceded I can squeeze no more blood out
of what I have. What I need is Win7 fresh install or similar on a
new PC which allows me to use the old stand alone software I have.
I have even considered moving back to XP... dunno.

Anyway I have spent way too much time trying to resolve this. I
seriously have an issue with post Win7 installations. Win10 and
worse Win11 are simply too reliant on the internet and I am very
suspicious of the OS and what it does in the background. I am too
old now to reinvent myself by going Linux and Apple stuff is shite.
Sorry, the last computer I would ever use is some Mac-Crap. No
offense.

I just want some down time from this issue and relax a bit. So I
have decided to put the retro onto the back burner until I can
solve my little Win7 conundrum. The Win7 machine has been well
and truthfully hammered since first arriving here in Feb 2011.
That is the longest I have ever had a computer as my main machine.
She really deserves a rest.

Anyhoo I shall be away for a while. It doesn't help with the old
brain cells fading. Kinda looking for a miracle, but hey. Like I
say a new Win7 machine would certainly help or a decision by MS
to revert their OSs by 15 years to a time when they didn't release
such f*ckin shite operating systems. I don't want to live on a
cloud and no I don't use a mobile bleedin phone. There is a better
way and its one where not being constantly pestered by moronic bull
is pure heaven. Win7 gives you that, just. Win10 and Win11 are
way too internet dependent. Its a case of who is in charge. That
would be me.

I'm off now. Time to chill. I do love Ai Art and my Ps5.

UPDATE: As is always the case with me I left matters a while and
then returned to the problem. What I was successful in doing was
setting up a Seagate external USB drive with the same drive letter
as the main drive on the Win10 machine. This allowed me to write
stuff on the Win10 machine so it could already be understood by the
Win7 machine without changing the code. It has involved me calling
into duty three 64GB SanDisk USB sticks to move stuff around but
that is not a problem given the size of Amiga files.

I am now able to work on the Win10 machine and transfer without
editing files to the Seagate drive for uploading to the website.
For now I have a working solution. Just gotta hope the Win7 HP
can handle the heat we are now destined to suffer.

Anyhoo... Onward as I say.
