ScuzzBlog: Diaries August 2023 Entry 12th August 2023: Post 1: Hitman Absolution - A touch overkill. Hitman Absolution - A touch overkill. I bit the bullet a little earlier this year and hooked the Dell Win 10 machine to this monitor on the HDMI. This lets me still use the Win 7 machine as I am now but use the Win 10 for games and the like. That said I am a bit of a Hitman nutter. The game is a rare thing cus it actually encourages you not to kill stuff. Sure you have to deal with the actual hits, but everyone else can and should be left alive. Interestingly, even the main hits can die accidentality and you get points for achieving that. I was playing Absolution early in 2020 when the PlayStation 3 had the red light of death and did die on me. I have since acquired two PlayStation 3 machines, one with the backward compatibility and the other not. Both are the fatter machines. I did also have to purchase another disc for Absolution as my PS3 one is stuck in the console. I hadn't purchased the replacement PS3 at the time of commencing Absolution on the XBOX 360 I have. So I had to buy yet another game disc for that platform. Each time I have had to start the game afresh to beat the game and unlock all the levels. I did try last year the PC game on Steam having bought yet another disc for the Win 7 machine. Sadly I so hated the intrusive nature of Steam plus I had to use the keyboard that I cancelled my Steam account and lost the game. The thing with Steam is that in truth all you need to buy is a release game code cus the Steam game interface has to download the game to your machine so you can play it. To yesterday and the realisation that my PC games disc is worthless having installed Steam on the Win 7 machine and tried to use the code. Didn't work. Consequently I purchased a game code off Ebay for a fiver, which worked and I was able to yet again beat the game and unlock all the levels. First problem was that even though I installed the XBOX extended features and enabled the XBOX controller the game would not see the game controller. The Dell machine says the controller is all working fine but no such luck with Steam. I had this wacky idea of plugging in the PS 4 controller and to my amazement that worked. The only problem is that the in game prompts assume an XBOX button layout and the controller dropped out a couple of times. I do play Hitman mostly on the PS4 with the later versions of the game. Unlike Absolution there is a multitude of ways to complete your mission and so no two run thro's are ever the same. Like I say I do love Hitman. I will stay with Steam for a while, though I do prefer using the PS4 and XBOX 360. But for just a fiver on the Bay that makes games cheap as chips and I get the code within the day. Absolution is about as retro as I get playing games. I have always liked the more modern games. Have fun. Hitman Absolution - A touch overkill.
