Premier Manager - Its the start of the season.
I'm a Brit through and through. I was born in Leamore just a coal
throw from the Bentley Fault in the heart of the Black Country. I
grew up in an industrial town completely encircled by canals and
believe utterly that the bestest tasting food anywhere is fish
and chips saturated with salt and vinegar and served in an old
newspaper. In terms of sport there is only one sport ... Footy.
Proper football.
I spent many a happy hour growing up playing football and also
watching my local teams Walsall and Wolves. When I wasn't playing
it we were imitating the game with Subbuteo. Football has always
been king.
At the end of each season I feel deflated as there isn't any footy
to watch, and then am invigorated at the start of each season with
the prospect of all those magical moments and great events.
So seriously, forget all other forms of sporting entertainment,
just face feed me fish and chips whilst viewing footy and like we
say in the Midlands, I am as happy as a pig in muck.
So today for no other reason I feature Premier Manager. A game
that I can honestly say I have never like ever played. I really
never saw the relevance of simulating football until SWOS arrived.
I was very fond of the Fantasy League and always had several teams
on the go. I would do anything to get my football fix. However
this game was one I purchased, and actually have several copies
of but have never played,
With the teams being from 1990 to 1994 I sense its stretching it
a little even for me to glean any relevance from the gameplay. I
did play LMA manager on the PS3 and FIFA when they had the proper
league structure, but none could shine a light to SWOS. Saying
that footy is so prolific and available to watch I can always
find something to keep me entertained.
My home team is Walsall, my followed team is Queens Park Rangers.
The ones to watch are Newcastle and this year Bristol City. This
may be the year Manchester United pull it round. Dunno. They did
OK tonight [ spoiler ].
So tomorrow the season starts proper and with it the hopes and
dreams of everyone in the country who likes the beautiful game.
