The Amstrad PPC512
This definitely looks like military gear to me. Almost has the
weathering of something that's been on the front lines. Not at
all sure about the luggability of this computer. It is tricky
to handle and pretty heavy. You need quite a bit of space to use
the thing also and the screen is a good way away.
In the end the unit fired up but didn't get past the Please Wait
screen , so I'm guessing it's lost its way. Never mind. Can't have
a winner every day.
Amstrad PPC512 released in 1988
CPU is a NEC V30 running at 8MHz
Has a 102 key QWERTY mechanical keyboard plus numeric
Has 512KB RAM and 16KB ROM
Text is 40 or 80 chars x 25 lines
Graphics 320 or 640 x 200
Monochrome green screen
Sound is just the beeper
Has Centronics,RS232 port, CGA Monitor and expansion porst A and B
This unit has two floppy drives
MS-DOS driven either 3.2 or 3.3, GEM, Q-DOS
Needs 10 Cell batteries or the adaptor
Can run on a mouse
