ScuzzBlog: Diaries December 2018 Entry 14th December 2018: Post 03: Spectrum 48 - The keys to life Spectrum 48 - The keys to life Poor spectrum had lost most of her keys and being in such good shape otherwise I decided to replace the keyboard membrane. Tricky job this cus the Spectrum can either come with clips that hold the keyboard on or just stuck there with double sided tape. The tape does go rock solid and is a pig to remove. It gets worse as in this case, cus they are sometimes repaired and the company doing the work uses actual glue. The trick is to use a hair dryer and some mobile phone tools. Just heat the cover plate up and then gently ease open with the plastic tools being very careful not to scratch or bend the face work. Given that this computer will never leave this place I chose not to stick the face plate back down. Instead the working computer was returned to the packaging and placed in store. I did retrieve the manuals and safely protect the case from the wires in the base. So the Spectrum 48K lives again.. just to go back to the cave. Spectrum 48 - The keys to life
