ScuzzBlog: Diaries December 2019
Entry 2nd December 2019: Post 02: Federation Quest 1 - Graeme Ing.
Federation Quest 1 - Graeme Ing.
Two weeks ago I began my quest to update the disk list that I have
here for all my Amiga disks. This followed a frustrating day trying
to find Utopia which I knew I had but wasn't on the list. The
game was the first in a series of games by the very talented Graeme
Ing which included K240 which I featured recently.
Over the period of collating the disks I acquired Federation Quest 1
and also tracked down my boxed version of Raider, all by the same
guy. I now can put my hands on all four games and compare content.
I have to say I didn't find Federation Quest very stimulating being
a walk around shooter type of game. Not my bag.
Raider however encouraged me yet again to dig out R-Type, Xenon II
and St Dragon for a quick blast. I do enjoy these games and like
any excuse to drag them out. Galactic Conqueror is also a good
game if you just want a quick blast around the stars.
Whilst mooching around I found Chariots of Wrath which is from
the Same publisher as raider. The boxes are very similar though
Chariots of Wrath as the better slot for the disk. Both were
obviously ported to cassette based systems by nature of the insert.
One thing to note about Federation Quest is that it refused to
work on the A1200. I got a green screen and a high pitched noise.
I switched to the A500 and she had the green screen but got past
it pretty quickly. The game does have a protection system that
involves identifying monsters in the games manual. I may scan
the manual and stick it on the website.
You really can't beat these little game boxes. They are way easier
to store and do the job just as well as the big box. If you see
any disks on the Bay with MAX on them, these are from the box set
of the same name. Just that I see a few ST Dragon on ebay with the
MAX wording on the disk.
R-Type and R-Type-II are getting very collectable at the moment so
I would grab them while you can. ST Dragon is also a good buy.
PS: Not sure why they named FQ-1 after an English Actress.
