ScuzzBlog: Diaries December 2021
Entry 9th December 2021: Post 1: DeluxeMusic Version 2.0 and not the set.
DeluxeMusic Version 2.0 and not the set.
You would think that this blog was about to explain the virtues
and qualities of the very wonderful DeluxeMusic by Electronic Arts.
Well you would be wrong. Interestingly the original version of
this product was called Music Construction Set by Will Harvey and
released for the Apple II, Atari and C64 in 1983. This was then
later reworked by Geoff Brown in 1986 and became the Deluxe Music
Construction Set and released on the Amiga and Macintosh. The one
I feature today was by a guy called Talin who was responsible for
Music-X and the game Faery Tale Adventure, and is simply called
DeluxeMusic Version 2.0.
Glad we got that sorted out.
OK to the blog. I have spent a few days sifting through boxes and
turning over shelves looking for a blue/purple coloured book for
this software. I had already discovered the clearly black and white
version. For some reason the images on the website show the cover
to have a purple blue tint. Additionally the disks are coloured
purple. So where was the book ?
Answer ... it is an optical illusion. I photographed the cover again
and got a very slight blue tint as I moved the light across the
reflective surface. To the naked eye it is clearly black and white
but when reflected by light has a strange tint. This is worse under
a tungsten light. So odd.
There is no differing colour manual to this software. It was an
illusion. Wish I had worked that out before I went searching.
Anyhoo DeluxeMusic... what can I say other than I took the time to
ADFBlitz, DMS and LHA the software for good measure. The first disk
provides the program and the second is samples and example music.
I do have the DeluxeMusic Construction Set which does have two slightly
different bound manuals. But no colour difference. The second box also
has the software Instant Music.. which is cool.
That was that there is no colour purple just black and white. Doesn't
Talin look like he should be lead singer with 'YES'.
Musical Interlude: Not on the disk
A little bit of Fragile for you to play : Roundabout... Scuse any adverts
