Entry 23rd December 2024: Post 2: Amiga DPaint and PPaint - JPG image usage.

Amiga DPaint and PPaint - JPG image usage.

Following on from that DPaint article yesterday I thought I would
take the opportunity to feature the lovely Clara Veiga again to
demonstrate how you can load a PC JPG image into the Amiga using
DPaint and High Res mode.

I did show this process previously to use an image as wallpaper.
Note that full size colour images as desktop wallpaper are going
to use a lot of memory.

Amiga DPaint and PPaint - JPG image usage.

First up create a JPG image of a size to suit
the Amiga High Res say 640 x 512.

Next use an image conversion tool to reduce the
overall height to 256. Only the height. So 640 x 256.

Your image will now look squished.

Fire up PPaint (not DPaint) and load your squished
image. PPaint can handle most image formats.

Let the software work its magic.

The image is now back to its original size.

You can now save the image into ILBM format
which is what DPaint uses. Also known as IFF.

Fire up DPaint in High Res mode and load
the image you just saved. Tip: Remove any
DOS tags like .jpg.

Like magic Clara appears in DPaint.

I used a very small image for this process
and the quality is poor. You can get near
photorealistic quality even with DPaint.
