Electronics - Ignorance is bliss
Those that know me appreciate that I have zero training in the
field of electronics. During my many years as a building architect
I would always have the support of an electrical engineer to guide
me through the issues of electrical installations. I have always
found that which I can not hold in my hand or see with my eyes a
difficult concept to grasp. I just never ever understood how the
thing works, and still don't. I just am amazed when I plug stuff
together that it tends to flow where it should.
And so when I trip across home made items made to support the
computers I am always wary of their purpose. It is often tricky
simply because there are no identifying elements that I can check
on the web or research by manufacturer.
So when I came across this gadget which I presume is a monitor switcher
I again marvelled at the expertise of the creator. What was interesting
is that amongst the many cables and connectors was this jumble of
small bags which seemed to hold electrical projects of one form or
another. I was able to make out the battery pack that may have driven
the various components. But as ever, by the time I got deeper into
the items I just greyed over and lost the plot. Without some guide
as to the usage and way of connecting up I just put the bags away.
I guess it was some kiddies electrical experiment set. I really
have no idea.
Just as an aside my father was a dab hand at electrical work. He
worked for the CEGB in the UK as a turbine operator. You would have
thought I would have taken an interest... er no. Wish I had now.
