Eureka Communicator II - Sorry no help.
To the guy that asked me to open up my Communicator to check the
wiring I am sorry but I failed to locate the gadget. I recall
putting the item in a box with the CD and maybe putting into a
plastic tub. It is a real challenge here at times. Maybe if I
can shift some stuff about I can get into the tubs in question.
They currently sit supporting a very large old Toshiba TV and I
need to make some space to inch over the TV so I can open the
tubs.
I have no plans to take the Communicator apart, as requested. The
item is a little too rare to be doing that. What I was hopeful of
finding was a wiring diagram on the CD. Sadly just not going to
be possible right now.
I am posting on the blog because someone else may have the CD or
know of a location online. All help appreciated. I do understand
how frustrating it can be, especially with kit becoming so rare.
Communicator II
Serial cable with RJ11 (telephone type) connector
Data transfer up to 210000 bps
Evidently more reliable than the Communicator I
Compatible with ISO-9660 CD standard
Keyboard connectors for the A2000 and A4000
LED status lights
MIDI and keyboard connectors as standard.
Connects to the AUX on the CD32.
Comment: Side connector is very poor. Not sure whether mine has
been snapped. It is not hanging out but I could pull the thing
out without any problem. The plugging in and plugging out on
the CD32 just is going to break the connector. That is why I
chose not to use the thing in truth. Dreadful design.
The CD-ROM has a full version of Workbench on the CD and so my
guess is that you can boot into Workbench using the CD. There
is also a shortcut on the CD32 controller for Workbench.
