Entry 22nd July 2019: Post 01: Amiga 1200 WB3.1 to OS3.5 and back - Part I.
Amiga 1200 WB3.1 to OS3.5 and back - Part I.
Decided to have a go at installing 3.5 and seeing if that would
be able to see the 40GB drive. Sadly OS 3.5 just struggles without
any acceleration and RAM upgrade, plus I needed the CD support.
I really am not a fan of either 3.5 or 3.9, but I was up for having
a go just to see if I could use the full 40GB.
For this I enlisted the help of the 1241 Quick Drive and a Blizzard
1230-IV. I also need to upgrade the ROM to 3.1. So I pulled Batista,
an un-expanded A1200 that had a warranty repair sticker on the
base.
With the 3.1ROM installed I first prepared the disk to my new
regime of keeping under the 4GB limit and then installed 3.1.
Having done that I needed to hook up the Quick Drive and install
the dreaded 3.5 ...... For that read the next post.
PS: I always fire up the SHELL when using a computer that has
been in store for a while, just to check that all the keys are
working.
