I guess Adventure A is kinda like Song 2.

Entry 3rd July 2023: Post 1: Agony and The Planet of Death.
Agony and The Planet of Death.
I read the oddest requests for help on forums sometimes. No matter
though, I do try and will help where ever I can. On Amiga EAB there
was a guy asking for copies of page 55 and 56 of Amiga Format for
December 1991. So I hot footed down to my very own Amiga magazine
rack, or mountain, and pulled the magazine. To my surprise the said
pages were simply adverts. My guess was that EAB had uploaded only
the pages of the magazine that had journalistic content and just
ignored the adverts. Anyway, I scanned the pages and include on the
blog today.
Not very interesting sadly. However, I was again drawn to the Agony
game advert that uses the very same artwork as Planet of Death for
the ZX81. I often wondered why they were identical. Please note
that The Planet of Death is actually called Adventure A. Not sure
if there was an Adventure B.
The Psygnosis game Agony credits Tony Roberts and Roger Dean as the
cover art designers. You may know of Roger Dean's work with albums
by Yes and it appears he simply designed the Agony title wording. Tony
Roberts admits to having once created artwork but subsequently sold
it to an Italian. He does not admit to it being his original work.
The artwork also appears on a number of books making me think that
it may just be artwork that is royalty free. I really don't know.
One thing for sure is that the artwork may be the same, but the
actual computer gameplay is anything but. I recently watched an old
episode of The Computer Chronicles featuring the Amiga where a guy
was playing Agony.
Skimming through the magazine I found a hints and tips guide in the
gamebusters section for Elvira Mistress of the Dark. Didn't know
that was there. I now do. Most informative. There is a very splendid
guide for OctaMED including the cover disk. For those that want to
see what adverts are included I took a few pics of the better ones.
There was also an article on Scenery Animator which kinds links in
to my blog for tomorrow.
I had another day printing today building up a few guides for my
drawing hobby. Useful having examples on tap when sitting with
pencil in hand. Kinda tricky drawing and using a computer monitor.
What I do is actually use a camera to photograph subject matter
and then refer to it as I'm sitting drawing. Much easier.
Anyhoo ... here are those two boring adverts as requested.
Pages 55 and 56. Sounds a bit Blurish as in Song 2.
