ScuzzBlog: Diaries June 2019
Entry 16th June 2019: Post 03: The end of the 7
The end of the 7
Microsoft have been badgering me for years to upgrade Win7 to 10.
I resisted cus basically Win7 is probably the last traditional
OS the world will ever experience. Computers today are just
glorified mobile phones and receptacles for micro-transactions
and social media sturff.... Not interested. I don't have a mobile
phone, a Facebook account and I still struggle with the concept
of an App... which is just another word for 'program'. Eventually
folk will rent their OS which will reside on a cloud with nothing
accessible or residing on their device. The phone will replace
the computer very soon anyway.
For me I will continue to use the Win7 machine and maybe even take
it offline. I can use this DeLL Win10 machine here that I have
for my online gaming and ordering stuff from Ebay.
So today I get another notification. I may just pull the plug on
the Win7 machine before the final day to stop folk like Adobe
and Apple and MS from initiating their kill switch and disabling
some of my treasured software. They did it with my FLV players,
video converters, Outlook Express and the Windows movie maker.
So I can see any updates that follow slowly rendering my progs
redundant. Norton will abandon Win7 pretty quick anyway. But
like my XP machine which I pulled very quickly, most of the
stuff still works on there because they were not updated. And
yet my video editing software no longer works with the modern
Firefox cus of Adobe.
There you go.... All ends of Jan 14 2020. Just cus the OS is being
made redundant doesn't mean it can't survive. After all I have
a computer on the floor behind me that I use quite frequently
that runs on Win3.1. Doesn't seem any worse for it.
The key is 'NO INTERNET'. Just pull the switch before they do.
And then you are as free as a bird.
And of an era
And before you ask. Montse Roura. Amazing dance videos of late.
