Entry 12th March 2023: Post 1: Amiga InfoNEXUS and DataNEXUS - Optonica.
Amiga InfoNEXUS and DataNEXUS - Optonica.
One of my favoured passions on the Amiga is File Management and
DataBase creation. It is always beneficial to get software that
will do both. One of my favourites is InfoNEXUS by Optonica cus
not only does it have the splendid file manager but with DataNEXUS
you get the DataBase creator. Both these came on a cover disk as
a demo [ Amiga Format 76A ] and I was lucky enough to get the
full version of InfoNEXUS, but not DataNEXUS.
Anyhoo, last week I acquired a further boxed version of InfoNEXUS
and discovered inside a full working version of DataNEXUS , which
was nice I have to say. Both worked fine. I sense from my searches
that I may just be the only person with a copy of both software.
InfoNEXUS has a very easy to use interface and permits the use
of small icons to identify file types. Further, it is intuitive
and recognises so many Amiga file types, tools and software.
FEATURES
ECS, AGA and 24 bit picture viewing on any Amiga.
Automatically recognises and handles Programs, AmigaDOS scripts,
Workbench icons, Text files, Fonts, CDXL Video, Med music modules,
Protracker modules, SMUS music, IFF pictures, IFF samples, Amiga-
Guide documents, XPK packed files, PowerPacker Packed files, OS3
Datatypes and on.
DirectoryOpus still wins hands down when it comes to a customisable
interface, but InfoNEXUS certainly has its benefits and is way
cooler looking.
I was able to ADF image both pieces of software and load them into
the emulator for safe keeping. I had almost given up hope of ever
finding DataNEXUS but it shows it is worth persevering if you want
something bad enough. It's been one of those months thankfully.
