ScuzzBlog: Diaries March 2026 Entry 18th March 2026: Post 1: Amiga CD-ROM - Welcome to the party. Amiga CD-ROM - Welcome to the party. I have any number of Amiga CD-ROM discs and one of my favourites is the one featured here. Not sure of its origins though I sense it's just a homemade collection of Amiga party demos, intros and music trackers. There are a 1000 demo disks in total and cus they are all in DMS format I can load them direct from the PC DvD drive into the emulator and they play just as a normal Amiga disk. Very useful as setting up an actual Amiga 500 with a CD is a real pig. I did spend quite a bit of time decrunching the disks and putting them onto floppies about a decade ago. Unfortunately there is no reference guide that tells you exactly what each file is. It really is a bit of a crap shoot cus a number of the demos are truly just that .. crap. There is a lot of bragging that goes on particularly on intro disks. Also quite a reasonable amount of name calling as creators try to outdo each other. Mostly the presentations attempt to show of the skills of the creators to build amazing 3D animations and special affects using programming skills exploiting all they can from the Amiga hardware. Very creative I have to say. Sadly I am not able to bring you the joy of animation though I did snapshot a couple of dozen disks so you get a taste of what the CD-ROM is like. I'm sure there are a number of these online and also still available on the auction houses. You don't even have to use an Amiga to view the files. You can also peruse the lists on the PC.
