Amiga 4000d - Ben meets Marjorie !!
I keep three of my A4000s on tap each day with the others, well
just resting.... idle so and so's. And trust me, life on the
A4000d is pretty hectic. The machine I feature here is the one
I have in my upper floor area and which is linked to ' Graham '
the bogus 1400 and another 1200. This unit is quite important
as it has the CD and can access and transfer files on call.
The main OS is basically 3.1 and stripped down to almost zero.
Like I say the main use here is to access CD's and maybe the
odd bit of image manipulation.
Decided to give her the once over as I haven't had her down
for a while. Not sure I recall where she came from. Why I called
her Marjorie I have idea. Usually the first name that comes in
my head. Splendid machine, but then 4000s are generally very
stable. Some may develop issues with the SIMM slots. Marjorie
is the slower 030, though I never can tell the difference. I
have the Multiface in the computer and that is all. She sits
atop two A2000's standing on their side. Uses a 1084 and has
Parnet... as ever with me.
And so here she is Marjorie. A truly splendid A4000d. I use a
CDTV keyboard, oddly with a grey cable. The face bezel is very
yellow, but that never troubles me as I never really notice
things like that. She's an Amiga... what more do you want.
