Finally dug out my brick of a power supply for the Yamaha MSX.
This computer has the synthesizer built into the base so that the
computer can me used with the midi and keyboard. I understand that
a keyboard was also available for the computer. Interestingly I
also have the MKII version of this machine.
MSX computers are very much the same but then that was the basis
of the concept. So when you switch them on they perform in exactly
the same way. Buying an MSX machine in the day must have been as
simple as pulling out a name from a hat.
CX5M Music Computer made by Yamaha Japan in 1984
Uses Microsoft Extended BASIC MSX Version 1.0
Has a QWERTY style mechanical keyboard
The CPU is a Zilog Z80 running at 3.58 MHz
RAM is 32 KB up to 64 KB and VRAM is 16 KB
Sound uses the Yamaha AY-3-8910
I am guessing this unit has the external PSU because of the conflict
with the synthesizer in the base.
