Entry 27th May 2026: Post 1: Commodore C128 - The hunt for my old CP/M disks.

Commodore C128 - The hunt for my old CP/M disks.

I read with interest a post the other day about a guy looking for
a suitable version of CP/M to run on his C64. This got me thinking
about my CP/M software that I must have used back in early days of
my C128. I featured a disk the other day of a C128 disk that I do
know I purchased several years after I first added the C128 and
CP/M to the website. So where are those earlier disks ?

The hunt was on ...

Didn't take long for me to uncover a small stash of 5.25" disk just
sat there next to the active C128 that I have connected. I must
confess I haven't actually used the machine for a couple of years.

The C128D that I feature using CP/M on the main galleries was
obtained from Germany. At the time a lot of Commodore stuff was
more available from Europe.

Fortunately I had used CP/M on a daily basis between 1987-92 with
the PCW9512 so was well versed with its operation. I also have it
on the CPC6128 and 464.

What I hadn't realised was that with the little batch of disks are
a few software titles. When I get some time I will fire up the
machine and see whether the disks are still working.

Anyhoo .. I don't have a C64 installation, just the C128 which was
designed for the 1571 disk drive that is built in.
