Amiga 2000 - Saving Amy follow up.
With the facility I now have to use the emulator I decided I would
use the back up and create a replica of the hard drive on the PC.
I dunno whether it was specific to 2.04 but the emulator did not
play ball when setting up the hard drives. It was easier with the
1.3 than 2.04 and a full ECS 2000.
Anyhoo I did manage the task and include a few snapshots for your
interest. One issue that I just cannot resolve is the Workbench
window and workbench pattern prefs. I have copied all the necessary
files to EnvArc ie wb.pat and win.pat but they refuse to fire up
when I load the emulator. Instead I have to go into prefs and just
hit the palette tool and like magic the whole workbench changes
colours and style. Its incredible. I thought it may be the config
file but it never works. I did read a post somewhere on issues
with early versions of 2.04 not saving or allowing tests of the
background so dunno.
She works just fine and I now have a fully working version of Amy
on the PC Win7 machine. I can even play the games. It really is
wonderful being able to maintain these snapshots of the past. I
know a lot would simply remove the previous owner's history, but
for me it is as valuable as the computer. It is so useful and
educational knowing what a real Amiga enthusiast was doing with
the Amiga all those years ago.
