Amiga Format Scene Storm - Awash with CDs Part III.
So with Amiga Format May 1997 to hand I ventured inside to see what
this CD was all about. I could have guessed really... it simply is
a collection of drawers, files, artwork, music, disk mags that is
the Amiga scene for the period. And did you know that ' The Scene '
is a thriving ( or was ) Amiga sub-culture built around the Amiga
demo ' scene '. So let's party.
I was more interested in the PPaint tutorial, Music-X, Squirrel.
SX-32 Pro and the lovely Elvira. There is also a pretty handy
tutorial showing you how to get connected.
So I set up the Camera in front of the Amiga 1200 with the CD drive
plus OS3.9 and a Blizzard with a few more colours on the screen. I
then set too literally opening drawers and clicking on the files.
I am not going to discuss the contents of the CD which were a
truly random affair so don't blame me for the nude images. I have
to say I found the vast amount of stuff on the CD a little on the
overwhelming side. I do tend not to use CDs for that very reason.
Once I got a little bored with the CD I opened the actual cover CD
and that too was a little generous with the amount of stuff to
go through. It really was endless. For me a floppy disk is about
as much as I can handle. And its the same with all cover CDs. And
man, forbid the notion of having DVDs full of Amiga files. I am
guessing it was a real challenge to find enough to fill the things.
So make of this blog what you will. It represents what I found in
the very short time I had to view the contents. Suffice to say the
disc is back in store and probably be there for a good while. As
for the Amiga ' Scene '. I was aware of the activities of the
various meets and user groups, but living in a remote village on
the south coast of the UK I could very well have been the only
Amiga user in a 50 mile radius .. or diameter anyway. So I was
kinda on my own here.

Anyway I'm off to play Final Fantasy XIII-2 .. as you do.
