AI Art - Not a paintbox.
If you were hopeful of using AI as a traditional paintbox tool then
I feel you are going to be disappointed. I have spent way more
time than I should trying to get AI to perform in a controlled way
and I am always disappointed in the lack of control.
What is needed is some form of wire frame control and detail filler
so that you can build your images and then mix or blur together. AI
is very impressive at creating what you didn't want. It also has a
nasty tendency to create the near perfect work just to be ruined by
the most bonkers mistake.
An example of a bonkers error was a fantastic image that I created
of a Victorian apothecary complete with all the glass cabinets and
the like, but sadly the image included a modern sink complete with
modern mixer tap. It is that inability to control the finer detail
that really makes AI a crude image tool.
I have enjoyed my time with the AI image generator, and can certainly
appreciate the technology, however, I still prefer my pencil and
my paper as this truly is the only way I can fully control the
results. Most that trouble themselves with AI are probably cautious
at being fooled. In truth that is what troubles me with AI. I never
really feel comfortable watching or looking at AI cus my brain has
determined this not to be a true human creative presentation and so
becomes wary and suspicious. The human brain is so sophisticated
as to be able to distinguish the smallest of inconsistency. With
AI I am always counting the numbers of fingers, and even the number
of whole limbs. My biggest gripe is the way a single word can create
the most complex object. Just not possible.
And so I sense my AI adventure is over for now. My brain got bored
and so I again adventure into the world of technology and art to
find something that my most inner world interprets as bona fide.
Never underestimate the power of the mind to recognise the truth.
Anyhoo here are a few works created by the image generator. I have
accepted now that I was only responsible for the prompts and have
taken to recording text prompts as the only creative aspect of
what I added to the process. The rest is an illusion of skill and
that is the truth.
