New Computer - Man, why is this so hard.
Sadly I do feel that I have lost all my enthusiasm for new PCs. I
guess I am just getting too old for this kind of thing. Less than
two weeks left in the life of Win10 and I know I have to get
a new machine but seriously I just have no stomach for it.
For me modern machines have become drab, boring and lacking of
identity. At every twist and turn you sense a loss of personal
control. Like I say I'm just getting too old for this. What is
worse is that my crappy Nokia phone 2G is being discontinued so
even that little beast has to be replaced if I want a telephone
to work during a power cut.
Time was I felt that computers were something us nerds used and
kinda ignored by the main stream. Now a computer is more a smart
device for social media and entertainment. Just not my thing.
So each night I spend time gazing over meaningless and tasteless
computers and just lose interest. What happens is I find myself
back on YouTube watching a video about restoring old broken stuff
or playing on the PS5. Better is tripping over to this wonderful
Win7 machine and skipping the light fantastic aware she is on her
last legs.
Computing shouldn't be a chore, it should be exciting and fun. I
guess my biggest gripe is that The Win10 machine works fine. I am
only being forced to upgrade cus the machine won't run Win11.
Never mind. I will get there soon. Till then I'm stuck backing up
all my stuff off the Win10 and Win7 machine in prep for a new kid
on the block. This will not go well... trust me.
On a different note I was forced to disable the website a week or
so ago. I was the target of a bot onslaught that was sending my
page usage into a spin. I believe the site is being targeted simply
to link my index page and its thousands of page links in some
advertising scam. I really don't know. It is just when the stats
show a search on the site for 'scuzzscink' reaching 22,500 hits in
just two days I got to not liking the attention. Anyhoo the site
has quietened down a bit now.
I really am not going to be able to do anything till I get this
new machine. The process involves a quite major upheaval here. I
just don't have any enthusiasm, which makes it even worse. Feels
like I am having the machine imposed on me at the loss of kit that
really shouldn't be being ejected.
