Turtle Power
I recently posted an article about the joys of Teenage Mutant
Hero Turtles and decided to use the game as a vehicle for why
I love mucking around with the classic kit.
I know there are many out there that simply swap trading cards
as a way of maintaining their interest in the platform. This
basically involves a modern computer, an emulator and a ready
supply of games and software to download. I do not belittle
anyone in their hobbies, especially when it involves the Amiga.
However, for me I have to feel the box and open it. I have to
read through the content of the manuals and appreciate the
artwork. In the case of this game we not only get the game but
also the postcard, badge, stickers and tattoos. The box has a
life and the game is more than just the sum of it's data.
I guess I get as much joy from switching on the original kit
and loading up the original games and software as I do from
actually using the stuff. No! scrub that. I get way more pleasure
from holding in my hand and seeing with my own eyes the real deal
the three dimensional objects that make up this platform. Without
it there would be nothing for me.
And I say to you ' Cowabunga ' and see if you can't find a small
space in your world for a real Amiga. The one with the click .
