Amiga 1084 - Moved to dry dock.
Bit of a theme here today, what with ship metaphors and busted kit.
Readers of my blogs will know that almost at the start of the
summer I lost my Amiga 1084 connected to one of my 1200s. I think
the culprit for this failure was me and my need for electric fans
in the main room where I sit at this computer. It was just so hot
and I needed to cool things down. Unfortunately these coiled up
extension leads seem to be able to build up a static charge with
fans and when I switched on the 1084 she popped. Just dead.
It is possible that there is just a fuse inside blown as there is
no red light or anything on the monitor. Never mind.
Anyway I said I would leave matters as they were till the end of
the summer and so today as we start the Autumn I swapped the poor
thing out for an Amiga 1942. It is odd to think that I actually
started collecting Amigas out of fear of my Microvitec breaking.
Problem is that I am running out of Amiga monitors. Hopefully
they will last me out , fingers crossed.
And so the humble 1084 which has served me well now resides in the
area I place broken kit. I have three of these now broken and two
more that are developing signs of failure. So sad... never mind.
