Entry 04th September 2022: Post 1: CLUEDO - No more detective work.
CLUEDO - No more detective work.
I recently featured an image of a whole bag of orphaned games
pieces that have long been separated from their boxes. Whilst it
may have been possible to hunt down the various parts I decided
instead to take the easy route out and simply buy fresh games.
First up we have the classic murder mystery game CLUEDO. The
game was first released in 1949 by Waddingtons and designed and
conceived by Anthony E Pratt. It involves taking turns to have
guesses at location, weapon and murderer and then putting the
pieces together to establish the truth.
The game was ported to computers like the Amstrad CPC range and
often batched together with similar board game classics.
On the Amiga it became part of the Board Genius set along with
Monopoly, Scrabble and RISK. For some reason it was renamed as
Master Detective.
Anyhoo I took advantage of the blistering heat wave this summer
to acquire some non-computer related games to fill in some of
the spaces in my board collection and show today a pretty good
boxed version of my original CLUEDO game. I can now forget the
orphaned pieces that are littered around the house and sit in
the comfort that I have the whole set now.
That was all folks for today. More tomorrow.
