Amiga 600 - I found my p.
OK I know I'm a bit ahead of myself. Just imagine that it's 9th
September... I'm one day ahead. What ever !!
My blog from yesterday ( or the day before yesterday ) was cut a
little short as I got quite troubled by losing letters from the
keyboard. Turns out half the keys were not working.
Time to refresh a few basic rules about retro.. keyboards.
01: Don't panic. Stop and retrace your steps. The slightest detail
could mean a simple thing can be rectified without ripping half
the computer apart.
02: In respect of keyboards if more than one key has gone AWOL
then it'll be the ribbon.
03: If one or two keys become problematic then it's either the
keys or the membrane.
04: It will not be an electrical component or capacitor... Listen
to me it's not a capacitor.
05: Never cut the end of the ribbon. Like ever. In doing so you
just reduced the life of the keyboard and the problem will come
back. Or worse just f*up the ribbon. Don't do it.
06: Be very very very very very very careful taking the A600
apart. Don't forget the connector at the front.
That all said I reseated the ribbon and all was fine.
What had happened... Earlier this year I was twiddling with the
hard drive cus it had locked up again. I had stood it on its end
and had been hitting it with a blunt tool. To no avail. In doing
so I had obviously dislodged the ribbon.
Anyhoo all the keys are working and I can conclude the blog from
yesterday showing how you can clean up the icons on the screen.
I then went on to show how I used AI to 3D animate a SpeceX rocket
landing in my garden pool and display using DPaintXIV from 2029.
But that's in the future. To do that I have to change the lightbulb.
... sod it my cuppa has gone cold. That's your fault.
