Over the last few days I have been managing disks using 1.3 with little reference to the later Bench versions, particularly Wb2. I am a great fan of the Amiga 500 Plus and have mine equipped with a ROM switcher so I can take advantage of both WB2 and WB1.3. The primary issue I have with 1.3 is the inability to see files that do not have icons from the desktop. The problem cripples icon management forcing you to use text editors and the Shell for a lot of the file management. I found this useful guide in Amiga Format Feb 92 explaining some of the differences between WB2.0 and WB1.3. The comment about WB2 making the original Amiga 1000 and Early Rev A 2000s obsolete was a surprise to me. Inside the Feb 92 edition of Amiga Format there was also a nifty guide to the disk operating system and file management, which you may find useful. I have also provided a couple of previous blogs showing Cartoon Classic which transitioned the Amiga 500 to the Amiga 500 Plus and with it Workbench 2.0. However the guide shown is a rare copy of the in box version that was specifically created for WB 1.3. Worth including as it has a very useful WB1.3 guide.
