AmigaGuide How to Write - C64kopik.
Pleasant day in the workshop mucking around on the A1200. I found
this home made disk box just sitting on top of some ZIP disks which
in turn had sitting upon it this large blue joystick. For the life
of me I couldn't remember why I put it up there. Nothing for it
but to drag the box into the workshop and go through it.
First though I had to set up a high density disk drive as a lot
of the disks were 1.4MB HD disks that I had saved Amiga stuff to.
The box was filled with AmigaGuide stuff, self made magazine
pages and images plus a strange C64 emulator disk. This I had to
look into.
First though I found myself trawling through Frank Bunton's very
splendid guide on how to write an AmigaGuide. For those purists
2.04 and above that still muck around in classic AmigaGuide, the
software lets you compose HTML style documents that you can browse
by clicking links similar to an internet page. Great fun. For me
its a bit addictive so I had to drag myself away.
The document I wanted to read was an AmigaGuide doc for a program
called C64kopik which I thought was an emulator. Turned out to be
a two window standard file manager that hooks up to a Commodore
1541 using a special interface and the Amiga parallel port. The
file manager uses Easy1541 written by Fabrizio Farenga.
Anyhoo after all that this wasn't an emulator, albeit it serves as
a way of reading the Commodore 1541 floppy drive on an Amiga. Which
is quite cool. So I relabeled the disk correctly.
Just a couple of comments. The AmigaGuide How to Write guide is
now in the public domain and can be found on Aminet. The images
may look a little dark today. Behind the camera was a pair of
French doors with the light pouring in. I had to block it out
with my body and for some reason the camera adjusted to darker
images. Don't ask.
And finally, in amongst the magazine images was this lovely pic
of the very splendid Caprice Bourret. Definitely don't ask.
