The 1581 Disk Drive
Hi
Unusual drive the 1581 and one that took a good while to source. This
drive gave 3.5" capability to the Commodore 64. A while back I discussed
the magazine ICPUG and today I discovered a batch of disks for the 1581
which refer to the magazine. I do not have many disks for the 1581 and
nor have I yet to date used the drive. I have no real intention to do
so. I only have the one and would break my heart if it wasn't working.
For now it remains dormant.
Can't think there were many disks made for the 1581 ....

The machine uses MFM coding to store 800 kilobytes of data. Released in
1987 it was evidently popular with bulletin board operators.
